I falsi miti della selezione

Prepare as best you can for the interview and don't let yourself be influenced by rumours!

To effectively pass an interview you need to know the "tricks" of selection and what recruiters want to hear

False! There are no tricks or shortcuts and selection is not a science or a scoring test. The selection is made up of people and the job interview is a moment of meeting and getting to know each other. Of course, recruiters use a method and there are gestures, good practices and tricks that can help you present yourself at your best, but every interview is different from the others because people and stories change. The secret, therefore, is only one: let yourself be led by the selector, do not jump to hasty conclusions, be sincere and focus on your abilities and potential.

To be chosen you must have all the skills listed in the advertisement

False! The Job Descriptions trace the ideal profile and summarise the important information on the vacant position but there is no "perfect" candidate who meets all the characteristics sought. It is important to understand an advertisement well: take a look at our Career Tip "Reading and interpreting job advertisements correctly".

Companies prefer young people

False! It is not age that makes the difference, nor other personal criteria. What is assessed during the interview is professionalism, skills and attitudes. Don't back out before you've tried just based on assumptions or "hearsay". Concentrate on what you read in the job offer and, if you think you have the necessary characteristics, go for it.

A job is forever

False! When evaluating a job opportunity, don't focus exclusively on the position offered but look at the context and the opportunities it could offer you in the future. This is certainly what the recruiter in front of you will do, because today's key word is "flexibility" and your professional career depends solely on you.
