Wind Europe: gli operatori dell’industry del wind si concentrino sul tema fondamentale del riciclo delle pale dismesse
Wind Europe, the business association for Europe's leading wind energy operators, has called attention to the need to speed up the recycling of disused wind turbines.
Wind Europe explains that this goal could be achieved more quickly if there was a ban on dumping unused components in landfills. Today, on average, around 95% of the entire turbine is recycled, with the remaining 5% going to landfills.
Within a few years, the newly installed blades will be made entirely of environmentally friendly materials. However, until then, we need to think about the proper recycling of old ones. Generating electricity from wind power will be one of the pillars of the energy transition, due in part to the modernisation of plants through reblading and repowering (reducing the number of turbines and installing new, more efficient ones).
However, if this technology is really to help achieve a more sustainable economy, it must have as little environmental impact as possible, and the replaced components must be given a new lease of life.
As part of its 2025 ESG plan, ERG has set itself the ambitious goal of 'Minimising waste sent to landfill through circular repowering, the use of biocompatible oils, extending the useful life of wind farms, and condition-based maintenance’. In so doing, it will be able to recover at least 98% of disused turbines. Repowering is a sustainable investment in every respect.
