Wind Energy as a Strategic Infrastructure: ERG at the 2026 Wind Forum in Campania
“Wind energy is a strategic infrastructure for the country: it means energy security, industrial development and value for local territories.”
Giuseppe Consentino, Head of Business Development Italy, took part in the 2026 Wind Forum – Campania, promoted by Legambiente in Aquilonia. The event provided an opportunity to discuss the infrastructure needed to address the climate, economic and social challenges of the energy transition.
What is ERG’s presence in Campania?
During the forum, ERG shared its industrial experience in Campania, where the Group operates approximately 300 MW of installed capacity, contributing concretely to renewable energy production and to the stability of the regional electricity system.
This presence looks ahead through an investment pipeline that includes repowering projects and battery energy storage systems (BESS), which are essential to increase flexibility and enhance renewable integration into the grid.
Why is repowering a strategic lever for the energy transition?
Repowering is today one of the most effective levers of the energy transition. It consists of the complete technological renewal of existing assets, enabling installed capacity to double and production to triple, while halving the number of turbines and optimizing the use of already developed sites.
This approach combines industrial growth, technological efficiency and attention to territorial balance.
What conditions are needed to accelerate the transition?
The forum also highlighted the need for a clear regulatory framework and predictable permitting timelines, which are essential to turn energy targets into concrete projects.
The transition is not measured only in targets, but in the ability to deploy investments, innovation and expertise on the ground.
