ERG fa il suo ingresso nel settore dei Battery Energy Storage Systems. Avviato in Sicilia il primo sistema di accumulo elettrochimico del Gruppo

Genoa, 5 November 2025 – ERG has commissioned its first Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Vicari, Palermo. The facility delivers 12.5 MW of power with 50 MWh of storage capacity and a charge and discharge cycle of approximately 4 hours.

The system, designed and built by NHOA Energy, an Italian leader company in large-scale energy storage systems, is equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries and is integrated into ERG’s Vicari substation connected to the nearby Vicari (37.5 MW) and Roccapalumba (46.8 MW) wind farms.

Paolo Merli, CEO of ERG, commented: “We are pleased with the launch of our first BESS project, which will also serve as a testing ground to build operational expertise in a technology that we expect will increasingly become part of our development plans. The plant will be managed using partly in-house developed digital tools, leveraging our experience in the management of flexible assets. We are currently working on the development of a project pipeline, some of which are already at an advanced stage, in Italy, the UK and Spain.”
