ERG and Google sign a 20-year agreement for the supply of approximately 2TWh of renewable energy
Genoa, 1 February 2024 – ERG Power Generation, a subsidiary of ERG, leading independent producer of energy from renewable sources and Google have signed a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The pay as produced agreement provides for the supply of the renewable energy and the guarantees of origin produced by the Roccapalumba wind farm, in the province of Palermo (Sicily), which is expected to complete the construction phase over the next weeks and then to proceed with the commissioning and the commercial start-up by the end of the first quarter.
Once completed, the plant, entirely developed and built by ERG, will consist of 13 Vestas V136 turbines of 3.6 MW each, for a total installed capacity of 47 MW and an estimated annual production of around 100 GWh when fully operational, equivalent to 47 kt of CO2 avoided.
Paolo Merli, Chief Executive Officer of ERG, commented: "Thanks to this important agreement with another global player, ERG confirms its leadership in the PPA market, which are fundamental tools for stabilizing revenues in a volatile price scenario. Following the recent agreements for the supply of energy from our repowered wind farms in Sicily, the PPA with Google allows us to make the most of an important greenfield project”.
