ERG ESG Suppliers' Day 2024

The second edition of the ERG ESG Suppliers Day, the event dedicated to ERG's strategic suppliers involved in supply chain’s sustainable path of growth, took place today.

During the day, in an interesting round table chaired by Raoul De Forcade (Il Sole 24 Ore) attended by Anna Campi, Head of procurement, Emanuela Delucchi, Chief ESG, IR & Comm. Officer, Ramón Pérez Medina, Head of Audit SEU Achilles, the main issues of ERG ESG Plan and of the Sustainable Procurement Projects were described. Then  Giorgio Barbaglia, from Comunità di Sant’Egidio spoke about the Social Purpose for Solar Revamping Project. The companies that most satisfied the sustainability criteria in the "Sustainable Procurement" project, therefore obtaining the highest scores in the 2023 assessment or that reported significant improvements between the 2020 assessment and the 2023 assessment, were awarded, together with the companies with the most interesting projects on Carbon Footprint and Diversity and Inclusion.

According to the Sustainable procurement project suppliers belonging to ERG strategic product categories are monitored and evaluated in terms of ESG through an annual assessment: each supplier is assigned an ESG score on the basis of which ERG may provide for the implementation of monitoring activities, audits at the supplier's premises or the definition of improvement plans.

A path designed over several phases: after having completed an annual assessment, a "sustainability rating" is assigned on topics such as company management, respect for workers' rights and equal opportunities, social aspects, environmental issues, safety and health at work, management of subcontractors, attention to issues of carbon footprint and Diversity & Inclusion. Based on the score obtained and the related findings, ERG can provide for the implementation of monitoring activities and / or improvement plans, so as to accompany the company towards its sustainability path.

During the event, four years of activity has been reviewed: every year ERG involves over 150 companies in the program, representing around the 80% of our procurement volume, with an adhesion close to 90%.

Furthermore, we had the chance to show the Social Purpose for Solar Revamping project. Along with Giorgio Barbaglia from Comunità di Sant’Egidio, we have highlighted the importance of this initiative, pivotal for the Group both in terms of business and sustainability, that aims to give a second life to solar panels and allocate them to projects with high social impact. The goal is to activate a virtuous cycle of circular economy that supports NGOs in the communities where they operate, both in Italy and worldwide. The event will see the participation of important stakeholders from the entrepreneurial and non-profit sectors.

The winners were divided into two categories: Best Score and Best Score Improvement; the winning companies - sorted into Small, Medium and Large Enterprises - were given the certificate that testifies their virtuous path towards sustainability.

  • “Best score” winner: Hitachi Energy Italy Spa (Large Enterprises); SMA Italia (Medium Enterprise); Aisi (Small Enterprise).
