Avviata l’energizzazione del repowering del parco eolico da 76 MW di Salemi-Castelvetrano in Sicilia

Genoa, 2 December 2024 – ERG has completed the construction and energisation of the Salemi-Castelvetrano wind farm in the Province of Trapani, the fourth repowering project of the Group across Italy.

Following the replacement of all existing aerogenerators with state-of-the-art technology machines, the wind farm comprises 18 4.2 MW Vestas turbines, (compared to the previous thirty 850 kW turbines, totalling 26 MW). The farm now boasts a total installed capacity of 75,6 MW, with an expected annual output of 208 GWh, (compared to the previous 50 GWh setup). The plant benefits from a twenty-year CfD in line with the revenue securitization strategy pursued by the Group.

The clean energy generated by the fully upgraded facility can meet the electricity needs of around 41,000 households, avoiding 74 kt/year of CO2 emissions.

Paolo Merli, Chief Executive Officer of ERG, commented: "The energisation of the Salemi-Castelvetrano wind farm marks further progress in ERG's programme to repower its wind farms. Thanks to the expertise achieved in this crucial step in the energy transition, further to the 4 wind farms already operational for a total of 270 MW, we can count on a solid pipeline across Italy, France and Germany to leverage on through a selective manner in line with our “Value over Volume” strategy of the 2024–26 Business Plan”.
