Natural gas

Our commitment to clean energy production translates into constant improvements in terms of quality and efficiency. Our natural gas cogeneration plant produces electricity and steam.

We stand out for the high efficiency of the process we use to generate electricity from natural gas. We will continue to improve the process of our high-yield and low-emission plant that is based on cutting-edge technology.

This technology earns us the white certificates that prove the energy saved by using energy-efficient initiatives and projects.

What is a White Certificate?

"White Certificates" (Energy Savings Certificates) are issued by the Italian Power Exchange (Gestore del Mercato Elettrico - GSE) upon attaining energy savings by implementing energy-efficient technologies, and systems. White certificates in Italy include an economic payback by the State, therefore they are considered as an incentive to reduce energy consumption.

Our natural gas plant plays a significant role in our energy portfolio. It is a programmable, flexible, and efficient energy source, which, like our hydroelectric sector, ensures production continuity and flexibility.

It is a cogeneration plant, meaning that it produces both the electricity and the heat used to power the industrial plants at the Priolo Gargallo site (near Syracuse).
